Ford U.S. EV Sales More Than Doubled In April 2024
Ford Motor Company recorded 179,588 new vehicle sales in April, marking a 2.4% decrease compared to the previous year. In the first four months of this year, the company achieved a total of 687,671 sales, reflecting a 4.2% increase from the same period in the previous year. Despite the overall weaker performance compared to last year, Ford experienced significant growth in its EV sales.
Ford saw a notable increase in EV sales last month, selling 8,019 Electric vehicles, which is a 129% increase from the previous year. This promising performance in EV sales suggests a strong outlook for the second quarter. The EV share of Ford’s total sales also improved to 4.7%, up from 2.0% a year ago.
In the U.S. EV segment, Ford ranked as the second-highest selling brand after Tesla in the first quarter of 2024. The company nearly doubled its EV sales compared to the previous year, reaching over 28,000 units in the first four months.
All three of Ford’s EV models contributed to this growth, with sales figures as follows:
– Ford Mustang Mach-E: 4,893 (up 205%)
– Ford F-150 Lightning: 2,090 (up 57%)
– Ford E-Transit: 1,036 (up 86%)
– Total: 8,019 (up 129%) with a 4.7% market share
Year-to-date, Ford has sold more than 28,000 all-electric vehicles in the U.S., a nearly 97% increase from the previous year, accounting for approximately 4.3% of the brand’s total sales volume.
Looking ahead, Ford aims to achieve 100,000 units in EV sales for the year. The brand’s performance in EV sales will continue to be a key focus, especially with the continued growth and demand in the electric vehicle market.
