Ola Electric’s Motorcycle Patents Have a Few Company Firsts
The current state of the electric bike motorcycle market is turbulent, with brands facing uncertainty. CAKE, a once promising Swedish electric motorcycle manufacturer, has filed for bankruptcy, and Damon appears to be heading towards a similar fate. However, hope remains alive.
Innovators like Dust.Moto are pushing the boundaries in the off-road niche, and Ola Electric provided a glimpse into the future of on-road 2-wheeled mobility last year. However, the latest patents from Ola Electric indicate a significant departure from the prototypes showcased previously.
According to Bikewhale, Ola Electric, India’s largest electric scooter maker, has introduced a new patent with a sleek and futuristic design that is different from their previous motorcycle models. The focus appears to be on an everyday-commuter-style bike, evident from features like basic suspension, narrow tires, and 17-inch wheels that suggest a focus on practicality and efficiency.
The patent also hints at the inclusion of an electric hub motor, although there is speculation about whether it might house a rear drum brake instead. Additionally, Ola Electric has filed three more patent designs that are sportier and up-market, showcasing variations on the original commuter-style motorcycle.
Would you consider using one of these new Ola Electric bikes as your daily commuter if they were available in the US? And if so, what price range would you find reasonable?
