The Korean automaker will soon present a new car in the IONIQ family, as well as an entry-level model. In this way, the company plans to increase its influence on the market of electric vehicles in the region.
As reported by Electrekdespite the talk about “declining popularity of electric cars among buyers”, Hyundai is preparing two more new products: the new IONIQ and the budget Inster EV, which is expected to have a price tag of up to 25 thousand euros.
The new Hyundai Inster is a compact electric car built on the basis of the Casper model sold on the domestic market in Korea. The automaker says that the range of the novelty will be up to 255 km.
At the same time, the new IONIQ will be presented later this year. The head of Hyundai in Europe, Michael Cole, did not specify what the new IONIQ EV will be, but the larger IONIQ 9 has already been spotted by spies during tests, so it is highly likely that its official presentation will take place soon.
The management of Hyundai expects that, thanks to new models, starting from 2025, the share of electric cars in the total number of cars sold will be 20%. However, this year, according to Cole, the expected share is lower: “Our goal is for electric vehicle sales to account for 14 percent of our total sales in Europe this year – or even slightly more.”
