Finally, A New Convertible EV
Maserati has unveiled its latest all-electric vehicle, the GranCabrio Folgore, in the seaside town of Rimini, Italy. This luxury EV convertible boasts 800-volt technology and draws inspiration from Formula E technology, promising a fast and sleek driving experience. The GranCabrio Folgore is part of Maserati’s plan to electrify its entire lineup by 2028. Designed with three 300-kilowatt permanent magnet motors, this vehicle offers fast charging capabilities.
With a focus on maintaining the Maserati brand identity, Head of Design Klaus Busse ensured that the GranCabrio EV stands out with its inverted convex grille design. Additionally, the audio system in the car is engineered to replicate the sound of a traditional Maserati engine for those nostalgic for the brand’s signature growl.
Despite its weight, the GranCabrio Folgore remains agile on the road, utilizing a T-Bone battery pack and clever engineering to maintain power and performance. The convertible top can be operated while driving at moderate speeds, giving drivers the option to enjoy the open-air experience. The car offers various driving modes to suit different preferences, with an advanced cyber-security system and over-the-air software updates.
In addition to its impressive performance, the GranCabrio Folgore offers a range of customization options, with a variety of finishes and wheel designs to choose from. The interior features recycled materials, showcasing Maserati’s commitment to sustainability. With a starting price on par with its gas-powered counterparts and a user-friendly transition to electric power, the GranCabrio Folgore presents an enticing option for luxury car enthusiasts.
