Is LiveWire Building an Old Harley-Davidson E-Bike Concept?
In my previous discussion about LiveWire’s latest patent for “virtual brakes,” I expressed my reservations about its potential usefulness. However, what I failed to mention in that article were the three drawings that LiveWire included showcasing an old e-bike/e-dirtbike concept.
Back in 2018, when LiveWire was still under Harley-Davidson’s umbrella and Avengers: Infinity War had just premiered, the company unveiled design sketches that hinted at future models, including an impressive electric bicycle/dirtbike. These designs seemed promising at the time, but unfortunately, they never came to fruition.
Since then, LiveWire has separated from Harley-Davidson, and those initial concepts seemed to have vanished. That is until the recent patent that showcases the same eye-catching EV design. Upon closer inspection, it’s clear that the distinctive bicycle-style frame, suspension setup, and finned battery pack all match up with the old concept.
The question remains, why did LiveWire choose to resurface this forgotten design for a new patent? Companies often use older concepts to keep upcoming products under wraps, but the decision to revive this specific design raises curiosity.
Could this mean that LiveWire has plans to introduce a similar product in the near future? It’s no secret that the company is facing challenges, and its current offerings come with a hefty price tag. Introducing a more affordable option, such as a rugged e-bike, could potentially attract a new market segment and generate much-needed revenue.
While this move might not completely turn things around for LiveWire, it could certainly help improve its financial situation and draw in urban consumers seeking trendy and eco-friendly transportation options. Perhaps this old concept holds the key to LiveWire’s future success.
