The 2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Demolishes the Track
At Circuto Monteblanco’s turn two, I found myself too narrow, with Lars Kern, Porsche’s factory development driver leading the way in the Turbo GT. With a quick tug at the right-hand steering-wheel paddle, I activated Attack Mode, giving the car 1,019 horsepower for a brief 10 seconds. This power allowed the car to quickly recover from my mistake and accelerate out of the corner with authority, showcasing its monster-like performance.
The Turbo GT is a result of a “what if?” scenario – what if Porsche turned an electric sedan into a track car? Developed by a specialized team within Porsche that answered only to the board, the Turbo GT emerged as the quickest four-door in the world, boasting impressive specifications.
The Turbo GT, based on the Turbo S, features a new silicon-carbide inverter for the rear motor, boosting power to 1,019 hp during launch control and Attack Mode, and 777 hp in regular situations. Combined with revised aerodynamics, including a fixed rear wing, wider wheels and tires, and weight-saving measures, the Turbo GT provides an exhilarating driving experience.
Despite its monstrous power, the Turbo GT is surprisingly approachable on the track. The grip level is immense, especially with the optional Trofeo RS tires, offering absurd turn-in grip and responsive handling. The Porsche Active Ride suspension system ensures minimal body roll, pitch, or dive, providing a stable and engaging driving experience.
Calibrated for natural feedback, the Active Ride system generates immense grip and handles curbs and rumble strips with ease. The Turbo GT excels in both slow corners and high-speed sections, offering stability and control at all speeds.
The Turbo GT’s acceleration capabilities are remarkable, reaching 0-60 mph in just 2.1 seconds. Launching the car is disorienting, with the speed climbing rapidly to 124 mph in about six seconds, showcasing its impressive performance capabilities.
While the Turbo GT may have limited appeal due to its price and specialized nature, it excels as a track car while maintaining everyday usability. The active suspension system ensures a comfortable ride, making it a versatile option for both track enthusiasts and daily drivers.
