Tehran Municipal Authorities Switch to Electric Taxis
In a move to improve air quality and modernize the transportation fleet in Tehran, municipal authorities have announced plans to replace 2,000 worn-out taxis with Electric vehicles (EVs).
Supportive Package for Taxi Owners
Shadi Maleki, the caretaker of the Taxi Organization of Tehran, revealed that owners of taxis older than 10 years can register for a supportive package to receive EVs in exchange for their existing vehicles. This initiative is part of a larger strategy to promote sustainable transportation in the city.
Expansion of Electric Fleet
With 27,500 taxis and 5,000 vans set to join Tehran’s transportation fleet this year, the addition of 10,000 electric taxis marks a significant step towards reducing emissions and promoting eco-friendly practices. This ambitious plan demonstrates the city’s commitment to embracing clean energy solutions.
Partnership with Modiran Vehicle Manufacturing Company
The Taxi Organization of Tehran has partnered with Modiran Vehicle Manufacturing Company to facilitate the transition to electric taxis. Through this collaboration, 2,000 Electric cars will be supplied, with the first phase involving the delivery of 1,000 vehicles. The selected model for the electric taxis is the Arrizo PHV.
By prioritizing sustainability and investing in electric vehicles, Tehran is taking proactive steps towards creating a cleaner and greener urban environment. With the introduction of EVs into the transportation sector, the city is setting a positive example for other municipalities to follow in the quest for a more sustainable future.
