The next Alfa Romeo to wear the Quadrifoglio badge will be the upcoming Stelvio electric crossover, due next summer. The head of the Italian car manufacturer Jean-Philippe Imparato in 2022 told Auto Expressthat high customer demand for a high-performance Tonale may convince him to commission engineers to create such a model.
It is known that the Stelvio electric crossover is the next step in the Italian automaker's plan to release a new model every year. The novelty will debut in the summer of 2025 on the STLA Large platform, and will be manufactured in Italy.
Imparato reported that the current output power of the flagship version of the electric crossover in the Quadrfioglio version is 941 hp.
“This is the figure at the moment. If we can get to 1,000 hp then we will, but I'm not entirely sure that's a top priority for the company or the customers.”– he added.
According to him, the main priority when creating a new car from Alfa Romeo is to get a complete replacement for a car with a diesel engine.
“This means that you drive, stop, recharge, drink coffee, drive on. If you have to wait two hours to charge the car, it kills everything. If you have to drive at 130km/h with Fiat Pandas or vans going faster than you, it kills everything.”– noted Imparato.
The new Alfa Romeo Stelvio is expected to use an 800-volt on-board system and support up to 270 kW of super-fast charging, as well as a battery that, at least in the more modest versions, will provide a range of more than 700 km.
