According to the electrification strategy of the General Motors concern, Cadillac had to abandon “fuel” models by 2030. And the company actively moved in this direction. Currently, Cadillac's electric lineup consists of five models.
The first was the Lyriq crossover. Later, the Celestiq liftback appeared. The flagship SUV Escalade IQ entered the market third. In December last year, the company introduced the three-row crossover Vistiq. And a few days ago, the new global electric crossover Optiq debuted in China.
But the demand for electric cars was not as high as expected. Toyota, Volkswagen, Renault, Mercedes-Benz and the Stellantis alliance have already adjusted their plans for the transition to green energy.
Cadillac also reviewed the terms of the transition to electric vehicles. According to the company's current vice president, John Roth, models with diesel engines will remain in the lineup after 2030. At the same time, the development and production of new electric vehicles will continue in accordance with the previously approved plan. According to Cadillac, 60% of luxury car owners are thinking about purchasing an electric car during their next purchase.
