The auto giant BYD is preparing to enter the market Yangwang U7 – a flagship electric sedan, which will receive a 1306-horsepower electric power plant consisting of four electric motors.
To demonstrate the potential of the new product, the company decided to go off the beaten path and copy a European commercial. The source of inspiration was the iconic advertisement in which an all-wheel drive Audi climbs a ski jump.
The sedan Audi 100 CS Quattro in 1986 climbed a springboard with a slope of 77 percent in the Finnish city of Kaipola. The advertising video quickly gained popularity, and later the German automaker repeated a similar trick several times with its new models.
But this time, the video has been reimagined in China. The BYD Yangwang U7 drove down a 76 percent slope at the Yabuli Ski Resort. During the filming, the electric car conquered the climb both on studded rubber and on friction tires, and both races were held in a frost of more than 20 degrees, which affected the efficiency of the battery.
