KIA announced its results for the first quarter of 2024. Along with the rather dry press release, the company also released a recording of its CEO's speech at the “Investor Day” held earlier this month. And as part of this speech, the announcement of a new charged crossover took place.
The EV9 GT is said to hit the market in January 2025 with “huge power” from an updated twin-engine powerplant. KIA says that the novelty will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than four seconds.
Such dynamics are truly impressive, given the weight of a large crossover. The power of the power plant is still kept a secret, but it will probably be much more than the current flagship with 379 horsepower.
If KIA does not plan to change the chemistry of the battery, then the range will probably decrease slightly. It is noted that the KIA EV9 is not the only electric crossover from KIA that is going to get a GT version.
Although the new product was not mentioned during the General Investor Day, the EV5 GT has already appeared in China. It was recently approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology with images appearing on the MIIT website. Technical details about the “five” should appear in the coming months.
