The electric version of the SUV will have a range of up to 600 km, removable doors and excellent cross-country ability. According to the head of the brand Antonio Filosa, the Jeep Recon will appear in 2025 and will probably also have a hybrid version.
The Jeep Recon SUV will debut alongside the Wagoneer S crossover, which will be positioned as a luxury flagship. Both novelties are created on the STLA Large platform.
Due to the slowdown in sales of electric vehicles, the Jeep company presented a version electric crossover Avenger with a gasoline engine. In response to journalists' questions, whether the new Wagoneer S and Recon will be presented in a version with a diesel engine, the head of Jeep replied that the company is focused on the production of electric versions.
However, he added that the Wagoneer S will definitely remain purely electric, while the Recon may get a hybrid version. However, Filosa said that the company is only considering such a possibility, so, most likely, in Europe, the new Recon will debut in an electric version.
The head of Jeep confirmed the commitment of the Stellantis concern to its current electrification strategy, according to which by 2030 electric vehicles will account for 100% of sales in Europe and 50% in the United States. He also highlighted the importance of other regions, noting that Brazil, which focuses on ethanol fuel, is Jeep's second largest market after the US.
“To maintain our strengths in these regions, we need to invest in capabilities other than electric, and because these investments are already in place, we can apply them immediately. But our strategy also includes an all-electric lineup in Europe. If Europe's political leaders decide otherwise, then we will have to adapt, and we will adapt very quickly.”– said Antonio Filosa.
