Jeep plans to launch an all-electric Gladiator pickup and is positioning the upcoming model as a competitor to Rivian's R1S and R1T electric pickups and Tesla's Cybertruck.
As reported by Electrek, following the launch of the first all-electric crossover, the Wagoneer S, Jeep is looking to further expand its lineup of electric vehicles. The brand's US sales fell 21% in the second quarter of 2024, so the company expects this to be its toughest year in a decade.
However, Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa believes that the launch of the electric Wagonner S will improve the automaker's position. To keep up with other electric car manufacturers, including Rivian and Tesla, Jeep is looking to launch several new electric models.
The company has already announced the release of the Recon electric SUV. The model will debut after the Wagoneer S and will have removable doors. In addition, insiders report that Jeep also plans to launch the electric Gladiator, Grand Cherokee and Wrangler.
The electric Grand Cherokee will debut in 2027, while the debut of the Gladiator and Wrangler should not be expected until 2028. Despite the fact that the company has not yet officially announced future new products, rumors about their future characteristics are actively spreading on the network.
The electric Wrangler and Gladiator are expected to retain the main design cues of their ICE predecessors and be based on the STLA Frame platform already used by the 2025 model year Ram 1500 REV. This architecture is capable of providing a range of up to 804 km.
