The Leapmotor company, whose partner is the Stellantis concern, has released a new electric crossover called the C16 in China. As for dimensions, the crossover has a length of 4915 mm, a width of 1905 mm and a height of 1770 mm, with a wheelbase of 2825 mm. To explain these figures, the model is 94mm shorter than the Kia EV9 and has a 274mm shorter wheelbase.
The interior is characterized by a minimalist design, except for a digital instrument panel, a “floating” infotainment system and a leather steering wheel. Already in the “base”, the six-seater electric car is equipped with a two-zone climate control system and a 15 W wireless smartphone charger.
For an additional fee, buyers will receive three-zone climate control, as well as heating and ventilation of the seats of the first and second rows. Customers can also get a 21-speaker premium audio system, a 15.6-inch rear-row entertainment system and an intelligent driver assistance system that uses a lidar sensor.
The car is powered by a 1.5-liter engine, which serves as a generator for charging a battery with a capacity of 28.4 kWh and a rear-mounted electric motor with a capacity of 228 hp. The power plant allows the crossover to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and drive up to 200 km on electric power alone.
Customers can also get an all-electric variant that has a 67.7kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery. It is equipped with an updated engine that produces 288 hp. and 360 Nm. An electric car can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds. Drivers will also be able to drive up to 520 km on a single battery charge.
The price for the diesel version starts at $21,439, and the electric model starts at $22,264.
