Mazda has confirmed the global launch of the new EZ-6 electric sedan. Due to the lack of electric cars in the model line the Japanese automaker is lagging behind competitors in key global automotive markets. So, Mazda sales in June 2024 fell by 31% compared to last year.
Mazda CEO Masahiro Moro said the company will work with Changan to “turn around Mazda's business in China” with the launch of cars to meet the market's needs in April. Although the EZ-6 was expected to be launched exclusively in China, it appears that the electric sedan will make its way to other overseas markets as well.
Mazda confirmed yesterdaythat the EZ-6 will be its first “truly global” electric sedan. Mazda and Chanhan signed an agreement to use the joint venture as a research and production base.
The Mazda EZ-6 will be officially launched this fall, first in China and Europe. It is known that the car is equipped with an innovative Qualcomm SA8155P chip, four high-definition panoramic cameras and 12 ultrasonic radars. According to Mazda, the car will get features such as autonomous driving and remote parking.
The Mazda EZ-6 is expected to have a range of up to 600 km on the CLTC cycle. All technical characteristics and prices of the new product will become known closer to the start of sales.
