With the latest application update, BMW received a new unique tool for analyzing the performance of electric vehicles. Using real-world driving data, the new feature shows how an electric car would perform during the same trip as a gasoline-powered car.
A new EV analysis tool allows BMW combustion engine drivers to see how an EV would perform on the same trip. To use it, you can simply select the electric BMW model you want to “test drive” in the app.
After 200 trips, or about 2,000 km, you can see how many trips you would take with an electric car on a single charge. BMW's new feature is designed to show diesel drivers that the range of electric vehicles is more than enough for most drivers on their daily routes.
“Electric cars can already be perfectly integrated into the daily routine of many customers – it's just that most of them have not tried it yet”– explained BMW's senior vice president for sales management and strategy, Dirk Widmann.
The simulation relies on real-world data to produce the most accurate results. BMW plans to update this feature over time, adding information about specific charging points and charging times.
In addition, thanks to an update to the BMW app, EV drivers can now manage payments in the new Charging Wallet.
