Porsche isn't going to introduce fake gearshifts into its electric cars like Hyundai did with the Ioniq 5 N.
In an interview with Australian journalists Porsche driver-developer Lars Kern explained that the company's electric motors are superior to internal combustion engines (ICEs) in terms of their characteristics, so there is no point in simulating the feeling of an internal combustion engine in electric cars.
“We see no point in doing anything worse”– said Kern.
According to him, the company is looking at what competitors are doing, but is not going to copy outdated technology, especially when Porsche continues to produce cars with internal combustion engines.
While the fake gearshifts may make the Ioniq 5 N more interesting for some drivers, Porsche remains true to its vision of the future, focused on maximum performance and a genuine driving experience. Unless something changes, future Porsche electric cars will not be equipped with this feature.
