The German automaker has announced a partnership with Rimac Technology to develop and manufacture high-voltage battery technologies. Specific details are few, but it is known that the new traction batteries will drive future models of the BMW Group, which will appear in the second half of the decade.
According to BMW, Rimac Technology is becoming a major supplier of batteries for electric vehicles. Mate Rimac said on Facebook that this deal is of particular importance because of the complexity and improvement of the product, the size of the agreed deal and the trust given.
The Croatian manufacturer of electric cars began its activities in 2008 precisely by converting the 1984 BMW 3 Series E30 generation to an electric chassis. It was this project that got Rimac off the ground, and eventually made it one of the biggest innovators in the electric vehicle sector.
