Production of the new electric Ford Explorer has started at the plant in Cologne. This information has been officially confirmed on the Ford website.
The Ford Explorer electric car will be produced in parallel with the gasoline model, which will continue to be assembled in the USA and China. The new version of the model is more compact (4.46 m long) and is based on the MEV platform shared with the Volkswagen ID.4.
However, the Ford Explorer 2024 differs from the Volkswagen ID.4 both externally and internally. It has a more brutal design and a large portrait touchscreen is installed in the cabin on the central panel.
The Ford Explorer electric crossover is already available for purchase in the European Union at a starting price of 48,510 euros, and this year it will appear on the Ukrainian market.
The model is offered in rear-wheel drive versions with a capacity of 286 hp. and four-wheel drive with a capacity of 340 hp. The most powerful version can accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds.
The Ford Explorer electric car is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 82 kWh. The declared range is up to 602 km in the rear-wheel drive version and up to 566 km in the all-wheel drive version. In the future, it is planned to release more affordable versions of the model at a price of less than 45,000 euros.
