The next-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class will debut in 2030 and will receive an electric modification. This information confirmed CEO of the German concern Ola Kellenius to Autocar.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class electric car will actually replace the EQS model, a new generation of which is not planned. At the same time, variants with internal combustion engines will remain in the lineup.
It is noteworthy that the gasoline and electric Mercedes-Benz S-Class will be built on different platforms. The electric car is being developed on the all-new MB.EA Large architecture, while the diesel version will retain the current MRA platform. Therefore, despite the external similarity, Mercedes S-Class sedans with gasoline and electric motors will actually be two different models. However, they will have high uniformity of components – more than the current S-Class and EQS.
There is not much information about the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class at the moment. It is known that all gasoline and diesel versions of the model will be supplemented with hybrid units. Actually, they will become mandatory already after the update of the current generation of the model in 2026. It is also known that an innovative third-level autopilot is being prepared for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which allows you not to follow the road.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS electric car will undergo modernization in 2025. It will receive new electric motors and an improved battery with 800-volt equipment, which will allow charging to 80% in 21 minutes and increase the range to 860 km. It is possible that the electric Mercedes-Benz S-Class will be equipped with similar power plants.
