The original Estafette was produced from 1959 to 1986. The van had a sliding driver's door and competed with the Volkswagen Transporter. This model may now get a new version with a nostalgic look, similar to the new R5 and Twingo EV.
Carscoops journalists shared own idea about a possible electric van from Renault, which will potentially become a competitor to the Volkswagen ID.Buzz. Although Renault has not officially announced work on an electric van, the Kangoo and mid-size Trafic models were updated in 2020, and the Master received a new generation at the end of 2023.
In addition, existing vans are already offered in fully electric “E-Tech” variants. However, if the idea of an electric van does come to fruition, the Estafette could be a prime contender for a revival.
The Carscoops render shows that the Renault Estafette has a similar design to the Renault 5 with LED headlights. It is quite possible that the interior of the car, as well as some body parts, would be made of ecological materials.
Like the classic model, the van has sliding doors, alloy wheels, and a compass on the body. The car is equipped with a spacious roof rack for storing various things, and there is enough space for passengers and their luggage inside.
Although this is only an imaginary model, Renault could easily implement it into series, thanks to the capabilities of the AmpR Medium platform, which is used by the R5 and the Megane and Scenic E-Tech. It is compatible with both one and two electric motors. It's possible that the Renault Estafette EV will debut at the end of the decade.
