Geely introduced a two-motor version of the RD6 electric pickup truck, the first serial model of the Radar sub-brand, launched in 2022. Several pickups, crossovers, SUVs and motorcycles will be released under this brand.
The differences between the all-wheel drive version and the base rear-wheel drive RD6 begin with the name. The “all-wheel drive” will enter the market under its own name Radar Horizon. Externally, it can be identified by the large “Radar” lettering on the closed panel between the headlights.
The salon is decorated in the style of the updated Geely Okavango crossover. The crossover also donated part of the outer panels of the cabin, but the Radar Horizon platform is different. It is based on the MAP architecture. This is the cargo version of the SEA, which is used by other electric vehicles of the Geely holding.
Overall length of Radar Horizon – 5260 mm, width – 1900 mm, height – 1880 mm. The distance between the axles is 3120 mm. The size of the road clearance is 230 mm. The depth of the ford to be crossed is 815 mm. The suspension of the pickup truck is spring: in front – McPherson type, in the back – independent multi-lever. Wheels – 17 or 18 inches.
The useful length of the cargo platform is 1525 mm, the capacity is 1200 l (to the upper edge of the board). The additional front trunk is designed for 70 liters of cargo. Another 48 liters of luggage can be placed in the niche under the seat cushions of the second row.
Horizon load capacity – from 815 to 865 kg depending on the equipment. The maximum permissible weight of a towed trailer is 3 tons. The standard equipment includes a 15 W socket (on the left side of the body). At the customer's request, the manufacturer will install up to five household sockets with a total power of 21 W.
An electric motor with an output of 156 hp is installed on the front axle. and 210 Nm of torque, on the rear – 272 hp. and 384 Nm. The total power of the power plant is 428 hp. The maximum torque is 594 Nm. The “all-wheel drive” accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The maximum speed reaches 190 km/h.
The battery is available with a capacity of 73 and 86 kWh to choose from. With a unit of smaller capacity, the pickup drives 460 km according to the Chinese CLTC measuring cycle. The 86 kWh battery provides a range of 520 km.
Sales of the all-wheel drive electric pickup Radar Horizon have already started in China. The price tag ranges from $25,090 to $30,600.
