Sales of electric cars in India are growing rapidly, so automakers are looking to gain market share by introducing new models. KIA has announced that it will present an electric version of the Carens model and two more new products soon.
Recently, KIA announced plans to present three new products in the region, including the Carens electric car. Kia intends to become one of the leaders in electrification in the world.
More hybrids will be introduced in the brand's lineup, as well as affordable electric models such as: EV2, EV3, EV4 and EV5. The company has already presented the KIA EV5 in China and is preparing to present the EV3 this year.
The model, in fact, will be a reduced flagship EV9. The expected initial cost of the novelty may be about $30,000. Also joining the lineup later will be the EV4, which will be classified as an entry-level sedan, but will cost more than the EV3.
New products will be presented in all major markets, however, for developing markets, which includes India, KIA plans to present the Carens EV model.
The KIA Carens EV is rumored to go on sale next year with a starting price of around $25,000. This was made possible by the fact that KIA and Hyundai entered into a partnership with Exide Energy for the domestic production of batteries for electric vehicles.
At the same time, other car manufacturers are not delaying either. Renault together with Nissan are also preparing new models for India, and rumors are spreading online that Elon Musk plans to visit the country soon to announce the start of construction of the Tesla gigafactory in the region.
