Teslas Have Cheapest 10-Year Maintenance Costs: Consumer Reports
A recent study by Consumer Reports found that Tesla vehicles are the most cost-effective option in terms of maintenance and repairs over a 10-year period compared to other car brands. According to the study, Tesla owners typically spend $4,035 over a decade, which averages to $403.50 per year.
The study highlighted that Electric cars, such as Teslas, have lower maintenance costs compared to their conventional counterparts due to their fewer moving parts. This leads to higher reliability and fewer chances of breakdowns, making them a more favorable option for long-term ownership.
Buick and Toyota followed Tesla in the ranking, both tied at $4,900 for 10-year costs. Luxury brands, on the other hand, occupied the bottom spots, with Land Rover having the highest long-term maintenance bill of $19,250.
The study emphasized that the early ownership costs are influenced by warranties and excluded other recurring costs like fuel and insurance. Despite its limitations, the research underscores the benefits of owning an electric vehicle, particularly a Tesla.
