Production Kia EV3 Compact EV Reveals Its Silhouette In First Teaser
Kia is aiming to maintain its strong global sales momentum by introducing new and more appealing electric vehicle models. Following the production of its flagship EV9, the automaker is now concentrating on smaller models like the EV5, EV4, EV3, and EV2.
Kia envisions itself as a leader in the EV market and aims to solidify its position by launching more affordable models like the EV3. The EV2, the smallest of the lineup, may not be available in the US, but the EV3, similar in size to the current Niro model, is likely to be introduced to the American market. Kia has showcased a concept of the EV3 and has started teasing the production model, expected to be unveiled later this year.
Until the official reveal of the EV3, details remain scarce. The exterior design is expected to closely resemble the compact crossover concept, as indicated by a recent teaser showing the production model’s silhouette. The interior design is also anticipated to be similar to the concept, featuring a minimalist and button-free look focused on a central infotainment display.
All upcoming Kia electric models will be built on the E-GMP EV platform shared with Hyundai. However, there will be a distinction between larger and smaller models, with the smaller ones utilizing 400 volts, a more affordable solution compared to the 800-volt architecture of larger models, resulting in slightly lower charging power and efficiency but allowing for a more accessible price point.
Overall, Kia’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup shows its dedication to providing a diverse range of EV options to meet the needs of a growing market.
