Tesla Cybertruck Fast Charging Improvements Coming This Quarter
The Tesla Cybertruck is set to receive an over-the-air software update to enhance its DC fast charging capabilities. Currently, the Cybertruck can charge at up to 250 kilowatts, allowing it to replenish around 40% of its state-of-charge in just 15 minutes, providing 128 to 136 miles of range depending on the model.
The upcoming update aims to increase this charging speed, enabling the Cybertruck to recharge up to 154 miles in the same time frame. A recent real-world test showed promising results, with the Cybertruck going from 14% to 90% state-of-charge in under 50 minutes. Despite this, the charging rate was considered somewhat slower compared to other electric pickups in the market.
In addition to the speed boost, Tesla has identified and fixed a software bug that affected charging from very low states of charge. These updates are part of Tesla’s ongoing efforts to optimize the Cybertruck experience for users. It remains to be seen if future updates will further enhance the vehicle’s high-voltage charging capabilities for even faster charging speeds.
