Tesla Produced Its 6 Millionth Car
Tesla recently announced the production of its six millionth electric car, specifically a Tesla Model Y. The company celebrated this milestone by thanking their owners and teams worldwide for their support and hard work, emphasizing its importance. A short video capturing the employees’ jubilation was shared on the main X channel.
According to a post on the company’s main X channel, Tesla is leading in the production of all-Electric cars. While BYD briefly surpassed Tesla’s production in a single quarter in 2023, the two companies are expected to be close competitors this year.
Tesla had previously reached the five million mark on September 17, 2023, and it took approximately 6.5 months to produce another million cars. At this rate, Tesla is projected to reach a cumulative production of seven million electric cars by the end of 2024.
In terms of sales, by the end of 2023, Tesla had delivered over 5.45 million units, with the Model 3 and Model Y accounting for over 4.78 million of those units. Additionally, the company offers other models including the Model S, Model X, and the Cybertruck, which is still in its ramp-up phase.
Despite Tesla’s success, other manufacturers like BYD have made significant progress in the electric vehicle market. For instance, BYD recently celebrated the sale of its seven millionth plug-in car, with an equal split between all-electric cars and plug-in hybrids.
In Q4 2023, BYD outsold Tesla in terms of all-electric car sales for the first time. However, Tesla is expected to reclaim the lead in Q1 2024. The quarterly results of both companies are eagerly anticipated in the coming weeks.
Overall, the electric vehicle market continues to grow, with Tesla and competitors like BYD driving innovation and increasing accessibility to sustainable transportation options.
