The Tesla Robotaxi May Be Called The ‘Cybercab’
Elon Musk recently announced that Tesla’s robotaxi will be unveiled in August, shedding some light on the otherwise mysterious vehicle. During Tesla’s first-quarter earnings call, Musk casually referred to the upcoming autonomous vehicle as “Cybercab.” Whether this was a serious name reveal or just another one of Musk’s playful comments remains unclear.
The choice of name would align with Tesla’s existing cyber-themed products like the Cybertruck pickup, CyberBeer, and the CyberHammer, all boasting a brutalist, cyberpunk design. Reports suggest that the robotaxi will bear a resemblance to the Cybertruck, adding to the intrigue surrounding Tesla’s new venture.
Musk also shared some details about Tesla’s plans for a ride-hailing business, highlighting the automaker’s vision to operate a fleet of self-driving taxis and allow Tesla owners to add their cars to the service. However, the success of this ambitious plan hinges on Tesla’s ability to create a fully autonomous vehicle, a feat it has yet to accomplish.
