Voltpost Introduces Lamppost EV Charger For Major Metro Areas

Voltpost, a newly launched electric vehicle charging company, has announced the availability of its curbside EV charging solution tailored for major U.S. metro areas. The innovative approach involves converting lampposts into AC Level 2 EV charging points, ensuring minimal installation cost, time, maintenance, and space requirements.

The company’s curbside chargers are designed to be modular and upgradable, offering two or four charging ports, an integrated retractable cable management system (up to 20 feet), and a range of safety features. Additionally, Voltpost has introduced a unique plug called ChargePlug, compliant with the SAE J1772 standard. The design of the cable ensures it remains at a 90˚ angle to the car socket, minimizing risks for nearby traffic and pedestrians.

To complement its charging infrastructure, Voltpost has developed a mobile app that enables drivers to find charging points, make reservations, monitor charging sessions, pay based on electricity consumed, and more. On the management side, private stakeholders can utilize the Charge Station Management System (CSMS) to oversee chargers remotely and establish pricing strategies.

Voltpost asserts that installing a new charging point can be completed in one to two hours, at a fraction of the cost and without the need for construction, trenching, or extensive permits, as it integrates seamlessly with existing infrastructure. As part of the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) Studio program, the company successfully installed a pilot charging point in just one hour, offering the highest operational efficiency compared to other services in the program.

Moving forward, Voltpost plans to deploy its EV charging projects in major U.S. metro areas such as New York, Chicago, and Detroit, among others, later this spring. This strategic expansion aims to provide a robust solution for accommodating Electric vehicles in densely populated urban centers.
