Audi presented the updated Q7 TFSI e quattro and Q8 TFSI e quattro models. Both plug-in hybrids have an updated powertrain that promises to make them more environmentally friendly.
German crossovers received a new 25.9 kWh battery. Thanks to the increased battery capacity, the models now have a combined electric range of up to 85 km in the WLTP cycle.
Adding to the battery is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine and a modified electric motor integrated into an eight-speed automatic transmission. This setup gives the 55 TFSI e quattro variants a combined output of 389 hp. and 600 Nm of torque. With it, crossovers can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.
If that's not fast enough, the 60 TFSI e quattro has a “newly developed electric motor” that boosts total output to 483 hp. and 700 Nm of torque. Thanks to the additional power, the acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h is reduced to five seconds.
Updated crossovers from Audi have an electronically limited maximum speed of 240 km/h. Crossovers also support external charging with a capacity of up to 7.4 kW, which allows you to fully charge the traction battery in three hours and 45 minutes.
The updated Q7 and Q8 hybrids will be unveiled later this month. Prices in Germany start at €85,500 for the Q7 55 TFSI e quattro and €92,900 for the Q8 55 TFSI e quattro. Prices for a more powerful version start at 96,000 euros.
