The “long-range” electric car Lucid Air Grand Touring has been updated. The company says that thanks to improved automatic pre-charging while the car is in motion, the Air Grand Touring can now replenish energy at DC fast charging stations 15 to 30 percent faster than before.
In addition, improvements to the batteries and engines of the Air Grand Touring mean that the car will use less energy for heat. This means that the electric vehicle's powertrain can now work more efficiently, even during repeated hard accelerations.
The electric car also received a heat pump from the high-performance Air Sapphire, which further improves the efficiency of the transmission, especially in cold weather. Although its impressive range of 830km remains the same, CEO Peter Rawlinson says customers will be able to go further.
“The Air Grand Touring has maintained its 830km range rating, achieving this despite more rigorous testing”– said Rawlinson.
The power of the Lucid Air Grand Touring power plant remains unchanged. The machine is driven by electric motors with a total power of 819 hp.
Like most electric car startups, Lucid has struggled recently, missing production targets in 2023, and the brand's stock has fallen more than 40 percent this year. The automaker appears to have fallen victim to changing consumer tastes, as inflationary pressures and high interest rates push buyers to look for cheaper electric cars.
