The Fisker company has just announced a significant reduction in prices for the Ocean model electric crossovers. The base Ocean Sport now starts at $24,999, according to the company. That easily makes it the cheapest electric car in America by a wide margin, beating out the Nissan Leaf by several thousand dollars. In fact, the Ocean easily makes our list of the cheapest crossovers you can buy.
Not only the basic model has a tempting price. Fisker has almost halved the price of the Ocean Extreme, which is now available for $37,499. Thus, the twin-motor electric crossover with 564 horsepower is offered at a discount of $24,000.
Of course, the key problem in this situation is the current financial condition of the automaker. The company said that the company currently does not have enough funds to see it through to the end of the year. Reports of recent talks with other automakers about a possible investment raised some hope, but those talks – ostensibly focused on a partnership with Nissan – have ended and no deal has been signed.
In 2023, about 10,000 Fisker Ocean crossovers were produced, and approximately 4,700 of them were delivered to owners. Is such a significant price cut enough to attract buyers to an electric car made by a company that could go bankrupt within a year? Time will show.
