The current generation of the Lexus ES sedan exists since 2018. Although the model is not as successful as its sister Toyota Camry, it will also receive updates. However, when exactly the presentation of the novelty will take place is currently unknown.
Rumor has it that this will happen soon, because the updated Toyota Camry 2025 has already debuted. The new ES350h, ES350e and ES500e versions are to replace the current ES250, ES350 and ES300h. In the Lexus model marking system, the letter “h” at the end of the name indicates hybrids, “h+” is used for PHEVs, and “e” is exclusively for electric vehicles.
The hybrid ES350h is likely to use the hybrid AWD system found on the RX350h. The current version of the ES300h is offered only with front-wheel drive. Meanwhile, the ES350e and ES500e will have all-electric powertrains.
Their specifications are not yet known, as Toyota and Lexus have yet to introduce all-electric models based on the TNGA-K architecture on which the new ES will reportedly be based.
As reported by AutoGuide, in declassified patents it is said that the ES500e, with a high probability, will become the new flagship model of the line. Rumors about the future electric novelty from Lexus appeared as early as 2021.
Then the automaker shared a teaser image of the future line of electric cars. Among them was a mid-size luxury sedan that closely resembled the ES, except for a redesigned front end.
According to rumors, the new product should be presented in 2025. By 2030, Lexus plans to present an electric version of each of the models in the line, and in 2035 to become a manufacturer exclusively of electric cars.
