Google Maps has received a major update that makes it easier to find chargers and information about them. These features will appear on maps in the coming months.
While several EV chargers are located at the edge of the parking lot, some may be hidden from view. This can make them difficult to find if you don't know where to look. To address this issue, Google Maps will begin showing “artificial intelligence-based summaries” that describe the location of the charger based on information from user feedback.
For example, when entering a parking lot, Google Maps can provide written directions such as “Enter the underground parking lot and follow the signs in the direction of the exit. Before exiting, turn right.”
From now on, Google will not only help find chargers, but also provide motorists with more information about them. When users leave a review about chargers, they are asked to provide additional information, such as what types of outlets are available and how long they had to wait. This information is extremely useful as it may help others decide whether or not to use this charging station.
Google Maps will also soon display the nearest chargers and their real-time availability and charging speed. This update will initially be available for electric cars with built-in Google services.
The update should also make long-distance journeys easier, as suggested charging points will be added for journeys with multiple stops. This is useful if you need to charge somewhere along the way.
