Tesla introduced the updated Model 3 last September without the expected Performance variant. But the release of the most powerful version is not far off, given that the previous details were hidden in the source code of the company's British configurator.
The updated 3 Performance model will receive “all-new, high-performance drives” that will provide a total output of more than 500 horsepower. The exact figure produced by the engines is not known, but Tesla claims that it is “the most powerful Model 3 ever.”
Tesla notes that it has also tuned the chassis and suspension for “intuitive, sharp responses to driver input.” In addition, pedal feel has been improved, as well as thermal management for more stable braking regardless of speed. The new Model 3 Performance will also get lightweight wheels with tires for “increased cornering traction.”
As for cosmetic changes, the same source code mentions “redesigned front and rear fascias, rear diffuser and carbon fiber spoiler.”
Inside, the car gets “all-new seat design with improved side pads and cushions” and ventilation. To distinguish it from younger versions of the Model 3, Tesla gives the Performance “lightweight carbon fiber trim and a refined weave pattern.”
The acceleration time to a hundred is unknown. The old Model 3 Performance needed 3.1 seconds for this exercise. Range doesn't appear to be listed, but we'll remind you that the base model was EPA-rated at 506 km.
Weight is not mentioned, although previous leaks have indicated that it will remain the same. The 82.0 kilowatt-hour battery capacity is also believed to be identical, but nothing official has been confirmed yet.
As for the name, it seems to be the same. Despite rumors that the model will be renamed the Model 3 Ludicrous, it looks like the Performance will remain.
As Tesla updates its regional websites to include the new Model 3 Performance, expect an official announcement in the coming days or weeks.
