Renault is preparing to launch its new Mobilize Duo electric car in the UK market, which is a spiritual successor to the famous Twizy. This news was confirmed by a vacancy for a product manager in London that appeared on classifieds sites. The job involves managing sales and pricing for Duo and its cargo version – Bento.
This job involves managing the sales and pricing process for these two electric vehicles, as well as analyzing the competitive environment, which includes models such as the Citroen Ami and Ami Cargo. A Renault representative told Autocar that plans to launch the Duo and Bento are still under development and will be announced soon.
The Mobilize Duo will be a direct successor to the Renault Twizy, keeping its compact dimensions and tandem seating arrangement. Three Duos will be able to park in one standard parking space, and the Lamborghini-style scissor doors provide easy access even in tight spaces.
Two versions of the car will be available. One will comply with the L6e ATV regulation, like the Citroen Ami, with a maximum speed of 45 km/h. Another version will comply with the L7e regulation and will be able to reach speeds of up to 80 km/h. Both versions will have a range of about 140 km.
The Mobilize Bento is a last-mile version of the Duo with a 700 liter cargo compartment.
Unlike the Citroen Ami, the Duo and Bento are unlikely to be available for sale to the general public. Instead, the plan is to offer cars for rent through a dedicated app, as well as long-term subscriptions through a dedicated website, which will also be used to manage car maintenance.
