Extreme electric coupe McMurtry Speirling with a capacity of 1000 hp. set two world records at once. McMurtry Speirling's fast electric fan car, first unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed two years ago, has come a long way since then.
During this time, the car has moved from prototype status to small series production, and secondly, it has now broken several records at once, participating in the third annual Reverse Corkscrew Hillclimb competition.
In fact, McMurtry was so fast during the race that his driver – ex-Formula 1 and IndyCar driver Max Chilton – set not one, but two records at once. McMurtry Speirling recently climbed the famous Laguna Seca hill in just 28.6 seconds. This lap beat the previous record set by the Lotus Type 77 Formula 1 car by around six seconds.
The second record was the sprint on the so-called “short distance”, which the electric car covered in just 21.958 seconds. By comparison, a million dollar 2022 Ferrari SF90 completed the same stretch of track in just 29.822 seconds.
