ZF announced the reorganization of its German branches. In recent years, their number has been constantly expanding, which was also caused by the acquisition of large companies TRW and Wabco.
High competition, price pressure, as well as weak demand for electric vehicles force the restructuring of the electromobility division – Electrified Powertrain Technology.
As a result, the number of employees in Germany may be reduced by 11,000 to 14,000 by the end of 2028. It should be noted that today their staff is about 54,000 people.
A higher level of automation and consistent digitization should contribute to the increase in competitiveness. It should also be taken into account that the transition to electric mobility will lead to a decrease in the production of transmissions for cars with internal combustion engines, including hybrid ones.
At the same time, ZF will continue to invest in the divisions Commercial Vehicle Technology, Chassis Solutions, Industrial Technology and Aftermarket.
