Volvo has discontinued the S60 premium sedan to make way for the new EX90 electric crossover in North America. But the company did not abandon the idea of releasing an electric successor to the model that would compete with the BMW 3-series.
About this Carscoops reported and shared a rendering of the upcoming novelty. It is noted that the novelty will receive the ES60 index, and with it the best stylistic solutions from the EX30 and Polestar 5 models. It has a streamlined aerodynamic body, a wide hood and a strongly inclined windshield. The grille and Thor's hammer headlights are also closed. A bumper with a large air intake adds external aggression to this Volvo.
On the roof of the sedan is a built-in LiDAR unit for autonomous driving, and the door handles are located flush with the body. Inside, the ES60 is sure to offer the perfect blend of luxury and cutting-edge technology, just like Volvo's other recent offerings. Created on the SPA2 platform, the new electric car will receive two electric motors with a total output of 402 hp. and 910 Nm. A 111 kW battery will provide a range of up to 600 km.
The main competitors of the upcoming novelty will be the BMW Neue Klasse i3, Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz EQC, Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6. Although there is no official launch date yet, industry experts suggest that the electric version of the S60 could appear in late 2025 or beginning of 2026.
