Charge Cars, which tried to sell an electric replica of the 1967 Ford Shelby Mustang, went bankrupt.
Charge Cars was officially licensed by Ford and attracted a lot of public attention for its ambitious project to create an electric version of the 1967 Mustang. Her '67 Charge Cars were to be equipped with a battery mounted on the floor and have a new steel body. A car with a modern interior promised a power of 536 horsepower (400 kW) and 1500 Nm of torque. But this ambitious plan, it seems, was never implemented. The car, worth more than 440 thousand dollars, never went into serial production and did not find its buyers.
“Like many others in the field of electric vehicles, we have recently faced serious challenges. It is therefore with great sadness that we inform you that with effect from 31 May 2024 Charge Cars Ltd has been placed into administration. Mark Smith and Stephen Cork of Cork Gully LLP have been appointed as joint administrators to manage the affairs, business and property of the Company.”– the message says.
Despite what happened, Charge Cars does not lose hope of realizing the project one day.
“We sincerely believe that this is not the end of '67, and we are looking for ways to come back.”– the company notes.
