A new study, conducted by JD Power analystsshows that Tesla still dominates the EV charging station market. Initially, Tesla's approach to the charging experience was designed as a service for owners of one brand's electric vehicles, not as a way to make money from them.
This allowed Tesla to focus on making the process seamless, and it worked. According to experts, Tesla was the first to develop a single global DC fast charging network called Supercharger, which allows for long-distance travel.
The automaker has also developed the Destination network, which, as the name suggests, provides charging when you arrive at your destination. Both networks have been recognized as the gold standard for charging electric vehicles.
Now, a new study by JD Power confirms this, as both Tesla charging networks are ranked first in the best charging networks.
JD Power explained Tesla's lead in its research, which uses data from the PlugShare app.
“Tesla owners remain satisfied with the Tesla Supercharger network, as evidenced by a score of 743, down just 2 points from 2023. Owners of other brands of electric vehicles are less satisfied with the Tesla Supercharger (706), but this score is 42 points higher than overall satisfaction with DC fast chargers. Ease of payment and ease of charging are among the key advantages”JD Power concluded.
