Tesla has confirmed its plans to create more affordable electric cars. At the same time, it became known that they will be more expensive than the previously announced car worth $25,000.
The American automaker announced that the use of cheaper batteries will allow Tesla to release the most affordable electric car in the model line.
CEO Elon Musk has decided that Tesla needs to double down on its use of artificial intelligence and autonomous driving, primarily in light of the development of a self-driving car under the working name Robotaxi.
According to several sources, affordable Tesla electric cars will be developed on the basis of Model 3 and Model Y. It is noted that the new products should see the world already in the first half of 2025.
“Plans for new vehicles, including more affordable models, extend to the first half of 2025. These vehicles will use elements of the next-generation platform, as well as pieces of our current platforms, and will be able to be produced on the same production line as our current vehicle lineup.”– said the company's message.
Earlier, Tesla said that the production of new cars will start in the second half of next year. The automaker also added that the strategy of maximum unification will allow to increase the annual output of electric cars to 3 million units.
