Sales of electric vehicles in Europe continue to increase, although the rate of growth has decreased somewhat. In the first half of 2024, 950,000 electric cars were sold, which is 2% more than in the same period last year. Such statistics published by InsideEVs website.
Among car manufacturers, the leader in the European market is Volkswagen – 178,000 sold electric cars in the first half of the year. The rapid growth of Chinese concerns is also noted. Thus, BYD sales increased 5.6 times (from 3,000 to 17,000 units), and Geely – by 52%.
But Tesla, on the contrary, shows a decline in sales. The demand for the Tesla Model Y electric crossover dropped immediately by 26% (to 101,181 cars) and it lost absolute leadership in the European market, but remained the first in the electric car segment.
But the Tesla Model 3 sedan, which is in second place, became more popular by 37% (58,400 cars). The newcomer to the market – Volvo EX30 electric crossover (36,980 units) sensationally rose to third place. MG4 and Volkswagen ID.4 also made it to the TOP-5.
