Back in January, Ford announced that it had been updated electric car Mustang Mach-E will be its fastest electric car, but did not share details. Some time passed, and the automaker revealed all the details about the new product.
Donna Dixon, chief engineer of the electric crossover, said that a new rear engine was installed on the car, which is noticeably lighter than its predecessor, but at the same time has more torque. In addition, the new motor is included in the basic configuration of all “Mustangs” with electric traction.
In addition, with the introduction of new thermal modeling and control algorithms, Ford can offer a Performance Upgrade mode for the crossover, which gives Mustang Mach-E GT owners access to an additional 136 Nm of torque.
Thanks to all the upgrades, the electric car can accelerate from 9 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, which is faster than the Tesla Model Y Performance and the base Porsche Macan 4 Electric. Since the refinements provided by the Performance Upgrade are completely digital, this option can be selected at the time of purchase or added to the car later.
Ford engineers also improved the performance of the Mustang Mach-E batteries. The crossover's batteries are known to charge 20 percent faster at DC fast charging stations from now on.
Depending on the modification, the updated Ford Mustang Mach-E can travel up to 515 km on a single charge of the traction battery. In the US, prices for the updated electric crossover start at $41,890. At the same time, the price of the most powerful version of the Mustang Mach-E GT starts at $55,890.
