According to the results of sales of new electric cars for the 1st quarter of 2024, the Ukrainian car market has significantly strengthened its position among European countries. The share of electric cars in Ukraine reached 19.3% among all cars sold, which is one of the best (#9) indicators among European countries.
The largest share of sales of electric cars in the first 3 months of the current year was recorded in Norway – 90% (!) of all cars sold. By the way, the total volume of the car market in Norway is very close to the Ukrainian one: 22.2 thousand new cars compared to 17.5 thousand in Ukraine, while the volume of sales of electric cars differs almost 6 times.
In second place – Denmark – with 41.2% of new electric cars sold. Sweden closes the top 3 – almost 31%.
Countries such as Iceland, the Netherlands, Finland, Luxembourg, and Belgium are ahead of Ukraine in sales of new electric cars. In these countries, electric cars occupy more than 20% of the market. In turn, Ukraine is ahead of Switzerland, France, Austria, Great Britain, Germany, etc.
In terms of absolute volumes of the market of new electric cars, Ukraine also shows a positive and one of the largest dynamics in Europe – +51.3% growth in sales compared to the 1st quarter of 2023. Above – only in Cyprus +77.5% increase in sales, but only 316 new electric cars were sold there.
A total of 3,400 new electric cars were sold in Ukraine in the first 3 months. This is the 18th line among 32 European countries (a year ago it was 19th).
