Electric car manufacturer Zeekr declares announced a new charging speed record with its latest version of its lithium-iron-phosphate batteries, unveiled at Tech Day in China. Zeekr claims the new batteries can charge from 10 to 80% in just 10.5 minutes.
It is noted that the first serial model with innovative batteries will be Zeekr 007. According to representatives of the brand, the new elements have replaced the existing Zeekr nickel-cobalt-manganese batteries. It is noted that the new batteries will help Zeekr push the electric car industry forward by bringing the charging time closer to the time of refueling a car with a diesel engine. Long waits at charging stations are still a major obstacle for consumers planning to switch to electric vehicles.
During the press conference, Zeekr's top managers also mentioned that the new batteries can provide better charging performance in extreme conditions. For example, the automaker's advanced battery management system made it possible to charge an electric car from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes at a temperature of -10 degrees Celsius.
To date, Zeekr has installed more than 500 super-fast charging stations across China, hosting more than 2,700 charging points. The Chinese automaker plans to expand its network to 1,000 ultra-fast charging stations.
