At $414 Per Month, The Fiat 500e Is A Terrible Lease Deal
The Fiat 500e is a small city car that is cute, charming, and fairly refined. However, its 149-mile range, lack of equipment, and base price of at least $32,000 make it a very uncompetitive deal on paper. There was hope that Stellantis could use accounting tricks to make it more appealing, but unfortunately, the lease deal is not favorable. The monthly payment is $414, higher than bigger, faster EVs like the Tesla Model 3.
Many manufacturers have started offering competitive lease and purchase deals for EVs, but Fiat’s offer for the 500e falls short. Other EVs offer better range, performance, and equipment at a lower price. The small size of the 500e limits its practicality for longer journeys, and additional features like heated seats are only available on higher trims for a higher monthly cost. Despite Fiat’s efforts to avoid a cheap lease era, there seems to be no compelling reason to choose the 500e over other options in the market.
Fiat USA’s stance on pricing may be understandable, but there could be a middle ground to make the 500e more attractive to consumers. As it stands, there are few reasons to consider buying or leasing a Fiat 500e. Hopefully, Fiat will address these issues to improve its standing in the EV market.
